So you have wedding to attend and that’s family event?
Ohh great chance to wear all those glamorous Indian outfits.
So it was my sister in law’s wedding in Kolkata , India. My first wedding in this family so had to dress up to my best. I like to style us together (my husband and me) and match and twin at times.
So below are the styles that we wore for all the Bengali wedding functions.
1. Engagement — Aashirbad
This was morning function with just family members around of both sides , groom and bride. I chose this Dhakai Jamdani saree for this event.
2. Haldi — Gaye Holud
Again this was day event and since Bride wanted yellow theme , everyone wore yellow color for this event. So I wore this yellow saree in bengali style with Gold ornaments to go with it. Traditional Bengali married woman’s look. Sindur and shakha poula .
3. Wedding Night
I love this saree. It is light and easy to walk around. This night makeup and hairstyle was done by makeup artist Surajit Barik. So had all the professional touch to this. Wore gold jewellery with this too.
4. Bou Bhaat ( Bengali custom )
A family affair again and day function. But this attire that I wore can be both day or night style.
This is one assembled style with Blouse designed and tailor made ( not with the lehenga) , Lehenga is seperate and Dupatta was seperately bought. He also wore a beige Kurta to match with me.
5. Reception
Designer Saree finally . After all the traditional looks , finally had this look for the reception. White adds elegance to your style.
All these wedding shopping was long distance. I was in Canada and I would bug my mom constantly to shop this and that. She would video call me from shops. I would keep on ordering some or the other stuff from online websites. Thanks to her my lóok was all complete !
